Bordeaux Tasting and Workshop at Elie Wine Co. Wednesday February 5th, with Diane Flamand, Légende Winemaker at Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)

Please join us and winemaker Diane Flamand, representing Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), on Wednesday February 5th, between 5:30-7:00pm. We’ll be tasting and discussing wines from the Légende Collection — an impressive portfolio of approachable, affordable Bordeaux produced in the Lafite style that favors balance, purity, quality of fruit, and true expression of terroir.

Légende winemaker Diane Flamand is a Bordeaux native whose passion for wine began when she was growing up tasting Médoc with her parents and grandparents. From 1984 until 1987, she received formal winemaking training at Château Lafite Rothschild, Lynch-Bages, and Pichon Longueville Baron in Pauillac. She held positions at many estates in both wine production and wine education before she returned to Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) as the Légende winemaker in 2004.

The featured wine will be Légende R Pauillac, a Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine produced from fruit grown in Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)’s own vineyards and made with the same attention to detail as the Grand Vin of Lafite. Additionally, there will be white and red wines produced from Bordeaux AOC and red wines from Médoc and Saint-Émilion.

Légende Wines we will be tasting and available for purchase with deep discounts available only during the event:

~$16 Bordeaux Blanc (2018)

55% Sauvignon Blanc and 45% Sémillon. The wine is matured on its lees in stainless steel tanks. Expressive nose of tropical fruit with subtle notes of minerality. Round and full-bodied followed by a lively finish.

~$16 Bordeaux Rouge (2016)

60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Maturation in stainless steel vats with 40% of the blended wines in oak. Fresh fruit aromas precede a round and easy wine with a fresh and fruity finish.

~$25 Médoc (2015)

60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. 50% of the final blend is matured in barrels. Rich, complex, with aromas of dark berries and sweet spices. A sip is generous and silky, with a full-bodied, rounded structure.

~$38 Saint-Émilion (2016)

85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. 40% of the final blend is matured in French oak barrels for 12 months. Toast and vanilla mingle with berries and liquorice. Full-bodied, rich, and smooth.

~$47 Pauillac (2015)

70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. The wine is partially (60%) matured in oak barrels crafted at the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) cooperage. Cocoa, blackberry, and spice notes precede a medium to full-bodied sip finishing with freshness and silky tannins.
