In-store Tasting with National Importer Peter Weygandt

Peter has been importing French wines for close to 30 years. He has gained a reputation for the quality of his selections that focus on small production, low yields, natural methods of viticulture, and minimal intervention in the cellar. He brings some of the most well-regarded producers to the American consumer.

We’ll be tasting several wines, with a focus on the Loire Valley, and all showcasing the impeccable character of his portfolio. Some highlights are Marc Plouzeau’s “Les Cornuelles” from Chinon, Yannick Amirault’s “Les Quartiers” from Bourgueil, and Loïc Terquem’s “Autremont” from Saumur-Champigny — all old-vine Cabernet Franc. Bernard Fouquet’s Vouvray will enchant you with its layers of sunny aromas and Laurent Gregoire’s Muscadet will have you craving oysters. We’ll have some of Pierre Chermette’s wines from top Cru in Beaujolais in the mix as well.

Since the beginning of Elie Wine Co. Peter Weygandt has supplied some of the wines we offer. Besides current release wines, we maintain a small inventory of properly aged bottles, primarily from Burgundy and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, that have had time to develop the characteristics that can only be found in cellared wine. This is a testament to the level of his portfolio, and of our commitment to the producers he represents.
